7/12 Reflection
I didn't realize until this class that the U.S. is the only place that doesn't require students to know more than one language in order to enter post-secondary institutions. I think that this speaks clearly to our American pride that even supersedes our desires to become (or remain for those of us who are die-hard Americans) the leading country in education. I think that we're slowly transitioning to this idea of requiring students to learn more than one language, but will it be quick enough for those who are suffering now? Historical views are alienating ELL families and are essentially slowly wiping out their culture by breaking their use and learning of native languages which further disconnects generations.
