Delpit/Woodson Readings - Facilitator-Jeff-6/5

Hello everyone, the following are my questions for Tuesday,

(1) What do you think is the main overlapping issue identified by Delpit and Woodson in our specific readings (I understand there is not 1 answer, but I am thinking of a problem which Delpit and Woodson both seem to return to throughout our readings) ?  Furthermore, what are some ways this issues could be improved upon, and how would you make improvements in your classroom?

(2) Delpit  refers to 'skills' versus 'process' approaches to teaching? For me it was easier to uderstand what she meant by the 'skills' approach.  Therefore, I would like to ask, What exactly is the 'process' approach, and how does this relate to critical thinking, what are some methods of the process approach? Delpit explains some consequences, but I think she does not delve into the details of the exact approach since her prime audience is probably aready aware (unlike me)?

(3) In Chapter III, Woodson points out African history which most men are not aware of, such as the 'Tarikh Es-Soudan,'   Also, Woodson talks about the travesty of permitting the judicial mullification of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments? If anyone does knows these things, please enlighten us?

Thanks, and have a great weekend,

Jeff
