During the discussions of the Freire and Fanon readings, our group (Jeff, Siobhan, Chuks, Francine, Johnathan, and Roger) led by facilitator Francine, discussed a variety of topics. One conversation in particular caught my attention. Chuks shared with us details of, I think it was a KFC commercial, which made us all laugh. In the same way as the magazines presented to us in class (for example, the Time Magazine picture of the Statue of Liberty under water) we discussed racist tactics in the media.
Roger asked a great question, of where the humor comes in? The great orator Siobhan said 'sometime, you have to either laugh or cry.' This resonated with because I think people use humor to expose how ridiculously ignorant some situations are. Even though we recognize the importance of changing the evils of some media, sometimes it is better to laugh than to cry.
I forgot to mention that team winning has officially been dismantled,
