7/14 Class Reflection - Kevin Dua

The theme of Thursday's class was distinguishing the difference between knowledge and action. Yes, we are fortunate being surrounded by a strong Donovan cohort and engage in discussions...but if action isn't utilized by the knowledge we've acquired, then all of this will be moot. And the ones who suffer from that idle mentality will be the students we may never truly help.

Dana's post was right--we shouldn't be having class discussions where the atmosphere of Here we go again is what surrounds us. Why are there challenges comprised of race and class hindering the welfare of our public schools in 2011? How can we go about change?

I'm not suggesting we figure out a resolution come next week, but I think thinking more outside of the box (i.e. Zina's activity) is a step in the right direction. Before we dare challenge the system and strive for better for our future students, we need to critically examine not the 1700s or 2015 but us first.

But in regards to thinking outside of the box in order to show that we care about the youth, their future and their positive outlook on a distorted world:
