Hello everyone, I focused my discussion questions on two readings instead of three this week. Enjoy!!
1.Bourdieu elaborates upon the types of cultural capital in his work. What types of cultural capital did you have that you think made you successful? Did you lack any? What types of cultural capital do you think inner city (or all) students are lacking and how would you address that in your future classroom?
2. Laureau explains that social classes tend to coincide with the education and the jobs that one obtains in the future. What do you think of such a claim? Does it apply to you? Does it not apply to you? How will you address this notion with your future students? What will you do to persuade your students to believe that they can obtain the job they desire?
