Perseverance

I was impressed by the work that Dr.Narcisse has done throughout the urban schools in our nation. Furthermore, what helps make this possible is perseverance! During his speech he stated that he would not take no for an answer and would not abandon an assignment. This is an attitude we will have to adopt as teachers. Teaching is a noble profession, however it is often unheralded. We are not in this for the paycheck or to be on the cover of Forbes Magazine. We are the people who do the dirty work in the background so that our students can shine.
We have to be persistent and persevere even when we come across challenges and obstacles. It is also imperative to remember that we will not always see the fruits of our labor. But we must work and believe that our hard work will pay off for our students somewhere down the road in life. Dr. Narcisse clearly expressed that perseverance is necessary for our success as teachers. I'm sure he has not seen all the immediate results of the students in the various districts in which he has worked, but he know his work is not in vain and the fruits of his labor will pay off.
